What I won't do as a Prenatal and Postpartum Therapist

Writer: Petra EperjesiPetra Eperjesi

Receiving your story as a prenatal and postpartum therapist is a privilege I do not take lightly. I will hold it and you with respect and compassion. Whether you are scared, angry, discouraged, or even numb - all your experience, emotions, and thoughts are allowed and safe with me.

As a registered psychotherapist (qualifying) in Ontario, I cannot diagnose you, and I will not label you. If you feel a diagnosis would support you, we can find appropriate assessments and professionals to do that. At the same time, we can work to (re)discover and nurture your strengths and resources so you feel more empowered.

Finally, I won't tell you what to do. I won't act like I know better than you. What I can do is offer evidence-based techniques, strategies, and prompts to help you find relief, move beyond coping to actually thriving, and feel like yourself again.
